We’ve provided a list of answers to questions we frequently receive regarding our services. If you don't see the answer to your question here, feel free to contact us. We'd be happy to give you more information and clarify any of your concerns.
First Wisconsin Cremation is notified immediately at the time of death. Transportation to the crematory is included and the body is held until proper medical authorization is secured. The cremation permit is then completed, and the body is cremated. The cremation process usually takes 2-3 weeks. Sometimes faster, but we do have to wait for the cause of death by the physician or medical examiner.
Through First Wisconsin Cremation, you are receiving only the most basic services of a crematory. You are not paying for anything you don't need. There are no frills and no other obligations. As a condition of services, payment must be received in full up front, and all paperwork must be completed through the web link provided to you at that time.
First Wisconsin Cremation now offers the option to prearrange a cremation with us. Please click here to get started.
Obituaries in your local papers are considered paid advertisements. They can range from $50 to $1000. For a flat fee of $75, your family can give FWC any obituary of any length along with a picture and we will post that obituary to our permanent memorial site. This could save your family hundreds of dollars. Plus FWC will post that obituary and send you a link to forward to your family and friends or post to Facebook. Why run the local paper once, when you can do it digitally 24/7 via the internet.

The cremated remains are placed in a plastic "temporary urn" at no charge to you. We have other permanent urns available. If your family would like to purchase an optional urn, please click our MERCHANDISE tab and have an urn shipped to us on your behalf. If you order and urn and require us to fill the urn or multiple keepsakes, we do charge a $50 filling fee.
Yes! There are no additional transportation charges. Since we cover a large area, our team of funeral directors may take a little longer to get to your location. Depending on where our directors are currently at or wrapping up with another family, it may take 1-3 hours - varying on distance.
The remains will be handled according to your written instructions. As we serve so many families a year, we do require all cremains to be mailed to a family member or cemetery accordingly. All cremains are shipped via the USPS priority express and a required fee applies.
